We came across Mark at Trinity Vet Centre through a recommendation of Maureen Collinson after we rescued a Royal Python who had clearly been neglected & had some nasty injuries.

We now use & highly recommend Mark at Trinity as he has such caring qualities and shows he cares about the animals he works with.

A little about the rescue below:

After we was called by a friend to help a sickly Royal Python an acquaintance of his had, we was told & found the below…

The poor Royal had a nasty hole/wound in his throat, coated with sticky substance, this was from the Exo Terra dial thermometer used in his viv.

He climbed over it & caught himself on the sticky pad & was left to hang there, thus tearing his neck. His previous owner was clueless & left him dangling by his neck, she then went out for the day & left the Royal unsupervised, after instructions by a friend she turned the viv onto it’s side.

Once she returned home, the Royal had freed himself but now had an open wound & had wedged himself under the bulb guard (luckily the bulb was not on), not sure if she tugged him to get him out.

When we arrived we took him out & put him on the bed to see how he was & he was arching his back in a strange way, we gently checked him over & he seemed to have a lot of broken bones & towards his back end, he had an area which dipped inwards quite badly, he also had a Respiratory Infection (RI), was underweight & had retained shed.

This is when we got in contact with Mark who was more then helpful throughout the treatment.

He gave the Royal antibiotics & nebulised the royal to free him of his respiratory infection & to get him back to good health.

The Royals open wound was also stitched up nicely, he also had an X-Ray which confirmed the suspicions of broken bones, horrifically this snake had around 50 broken bones, the Royal was underweight & was given a few tube feeds to get some nutrition into his system.

The royal is now doing extremely well, feeding weekly and growing like he should be.

A big thank you to Mark at Trinity Vet Centre!

This is what he looked like when he first came to us. You can see the Sticky residue on his neck.

All of the retained shed.

His lower half all dipped in where the broken bones were.

This is where Mark has stitched him up, and a xray of him. All the red circles are broken bones.

This is him now :)

Healing nicely.

Putting on weight.
